This space is ideal for work with large set building projects, installations and sculptures because of its high ceiling, large space and sliding garage doors, which make it possible to back a small lorry into the space. This workshop offers one solid fixed workbench as well as several versatile workmate benches and a very comprehensive range of quality tools for most metalwork and woodwork projects. The basic price includes all hand tools and cordless drill. For larger projects, where users wish to use our wide range of power tools (including various types of saws, and welding equipment) the price is slightly higher. Users are required to take a brief introduction course in order to hire power tools, unless they are already known to be particularly experienced.

Prices for these services are generally based on NOK: 220,- per hour of work, but we are happy to reduce prices for clients who are willing to supervise parts of the process themselves. This usually works out a lot cheaper than ordinary commercial services. Please contact us to discuss your needs, and arrange an affordable solution. Here are some of the areas we can help in:

*DVD: Prepare menus, subtitles, alternative audio tracks, create chapters and chapter menus, burn DVD’s print on your DVD’s, design covers for them, copy from VHS or super 8 to DVD. *Video: Edit video/ audio, voice-overs, music video production and more. *Photography/ Documentary: We have a very good photographer collaborating with Wrap. His name is Daniel and he is very interested in photographing dance and performances, we will give him your details if you are interested in his services. *Welding/metal work: We also collaborate with artist Dave who is an experienced welder/metal worker. If you are interested in welding or metalwork services, we will give Dave your details and he will contact you. *Production Management: Wrap also offers assistance with various types of production and on various levels. Technical management, logistics, and documentation of events and performances are amongst the services we can provide as part of a production support package that we tailor to suit your needs and budget. *Advice: Wrap can also help with advice and good contacts related to production, marketing and writing of applications, give us a phone or arrange to have a chat!
*Storage: We now have a large storage room for general storage. We are happy to store stuff for groups in need. It is possible to store scenography and equipment, either short or long term. This is a “first come first serve” possibility, if you are in need of storage, we are glad to lend space if there is room at the given time. Please contact us for more details.

The venue

Our rehearsal space is also our main venue. It is a large spacious room with a solid wooden floor, high ceiling, and plenty of electrical power outlets. Sliding garage doors make it easy to bring large sets, or technical equipment in and out of the space. This large space makes a great place to try out interdisciplinary work. Generally it is also ideal for dance, performance and theatre productions to experiment, produce work, rehearse and perform in. The room has Internet, a piano and a portable sound system with auxiliary input for PCs/MP3 players etc. In addition to these basics, we can also provide PA, video projection equipment, and simple lighting equipment (terms to be discussed according to the project).

Residencies: project/meeting room and video library

Wrap offers flexible and tailored residencies with free usage of workshops and facilities. In exchange the artist is asked to exhibit some of the work, show work in progress, do a workshop, a performance, or anything else that might be of interest for a Bergen audience. Please send us an application and describe what you work with, how long you would like the residency to last, and a bit about your background. We prioritise interdisciplinary projects. Artists who want to bring children are welcome to do so.

The project/meeting room is a light, open space, adjoining the kitchen. We have plenty of tables and chairs for different sizes of meetings, as well as internet and printer/fax access. You can also ask us about other presentation equipment, such as sound and projection equipment, flip board etc. When it is not in use for meetings, this space also provides a pleasant area for food and coffee breaks. Kitchen facilities include fridge, cooker, coffee machine, kettle and dishwasher. We are also installing a video and documentation library in the space. There will be documentation and videos from past events end performances that have happened at, or have been produced at Wrap.

Music Studio

Our music room is a spacious room with good acoustics. This makes it easier to record and work with larger constellations. This is a versatile recording and sequencing studio with high-end equipment. Perfect for collaborations with other musicians, theatre directors, filmmakers etc. Files can easily be exchanged with computers in the video room or venue via 1GB Ethernet network. Multi cables makes cabling of headset amplifiers and microphones an easy task anywhere in the room. We offer a wide range of services from this studio such as demo recordings, editing of soundtracks, voice-overs etc. It is possible to rent these facilities without a Wrap technician (depending on experience) and visiting composers/sound artists who wish to use their own laptops, can choose between our two Firewire audio interfaces - Apogees Ensemble (24/196) or our flexible M-audio Project Mix with integrated control surface. Easily combine the control surface of the Project Mix with the state-of-the-art Ensemble interface for a high-end, user friendly studio environment. With our dual quad-core 2.8Ghz Mac Pro and its 8 GB of memory, you will never have to worry about computer limitations. Our Soundcraft GB2 mixer, combined with our headphone amplifiers and outboard multi-effects processor gives all the routing flexibility you will need for advanced multitrack recording sessions, and our quality microphones will capture every subtlety. Wrap also offers a five piece drum set (Yamaha Stage Custom) an acoustic piano, and guitar amplifiers.

Wrap is like a parcel with a variety of different technical and spatial possibilities. Whether you want to set up a video studio within the music studio, build your set in the dance studio, or throw together any other combination of tools and facilities – we can help you to find the best possible solution for your project. Even if you prefer to keep different aspects of your production in different rooms, it is easy to transfer large files between computers over our internal network. We hope that these flexible production solutions, professional equipment, and years of experience in facilitating interdisciplinary projects, can inspire our users to take their projects to new creative heights!

Film and video workshop

The video workshop provides a great environment for most video, graphics, animation or cine-film projects. Whether you choose to bring your own laptop or use our 3.06Ghz Intel Core2 Duo iMac with high resolution 21.5” glossy flatscreen (which runs a broad range of useful professional software), you can easily plug in to our Harman Kardon Soundstick speaker system, canon high-resolution flat bed scanner, Intuos 4 drawing tablet, and other useful devices. We are in the process of building a large green-screen, and we can offer good lighting equipment, as well as camera, tripod, and dolly system for those interested in making short films, music videos etc. We also have equipment for the transfer of super 8, VHS and other analogue formats to digital video and DVD, VJ equipment such as video projectors, Triple Head 2 Go etc, and equipment that can be useful for stop motion animations. Our video equipment is primarily intended for use at Wrap.

Darkroom

This room is big enough for at least two or three people to work comfortably with developing black and white photography or cine film. In time we are planning to add a screen-printing workshop to this space.

Our rehearsal space is a large spacious room, with a wooden floor and relatively high ceiling. The room has Internet, a piano and portable sound system with auxiliary input for PCs/MP3 players etc. Sliding garage doors make it possible to rig and bring in large pieces of scenography, lighting and sound equipment, and there are several independent 16amp power outlets, plus one 25amp outlet. Wrap is generally a great place for interdisciplinary work, and this large, flexible studio gives you the space to develop projects on many different scales. An ideal space for dance, theatre, photography, interdisciplinary productions and experiments. The room has good acoustics, and may also be used as a venue for performances and concerts combined with our PA and lighting equipment.

The white room The white room, alternative venue/rehersalspace

The “White Room” is a windowless space with white walls, ceiling and floor. The room gives the atmosphere of a swimming pool changing room. It works well as an exhibition room for visual art, performance and other intimate works of art. Having no windows also makes the room ideal for screenings of video art and light-based installations. The music studio is sometimes used for intimate concerts, other spaces may also be used for performances and exhibitions, please make a request and we will do our best to make it happen!
