Fredag 19 februar huset vi Bergen Dansesenters Dansekunstnermøte med to visninger av arbeider, gjennomgang av levekårsundersøkelsen for kunstnere og debatt rundt denne.
We have had a lot of activity at Wrap since moving to the new venue in Møllendalsveien, and the time ahead is no exeption.
At the moment we´ve got Transiteateret working in three/four of our rooms on their latest production. They have booked the space until late April which makes their project one of the longest running projects we have housed.
On Friday 19th of February we hosted a Bergen Dansesenter run Dance Artist Meeting with showing of two pieces and discussion about the living standard of artists survey.
]]>There is a lot happening within Wrap´s four walls these days. There are several productions working in our fascilities, we can mention the Ole Bull project (picture), Transiteateret´s new project, Thud-moving endangered spaces´collaboratory project for small children with Mari Kvien Brunvoll (which premiers on Sunday 14th of February), and Leo Preston´s development of the music for Getting Spiritual with Mr Vader. We´re working simultaneously on further developing the systems and organising our various workshops and studios in order for them to be well suited for our users. On the 19th of February there will be a Dance Artist Meeting at Wrap, arranged by Bergen Dansesenter, where dance artists are given the opportunity to show their work.
]]>Several groups are producing work at Wrap at the moment, we can mention NONcompany, Transiteateret, Thud and Leo Preston. And we are still working on planning, fascilitating and organising Wrap. Wrap has accepted Hans Petter Saunes Stensland on an internship. He contributes to the running of the project through practical, administrative and technical tasks.
]]>Wrap had a great opening party, and most services are now available. We have also updated our website with new pictures and the services we provide are more thoroughly described. The previous weeks have been more than busy, both with groups rehearsing and preparations for the opening. The groups and projects that have been working at Wrap since September have together used all our facilities. These are Non Company, Kompany Krapp, the community art projects Damsgård Youth and Breath, Boris Rodriguez Hauck, Line Starheimsæter, Leo Preston, Thud - moving endangered spaces, Jan Holden, Geirdis Bjørlo, Dave Catherall, Daniel Lobo and Dukkenikkerne. Wrap is now also the proud exhibitor of a Mariano Pignatiello mural, which he painted for our opening.

Saturday the 28th of November is the day for Wrap´s reopening in our new building in Møllendalsveien 46A. The event starts at 8.00pm, and there will be a number of things happening as the evening progresses.

]]>Leo Preston´s Getting Spiritual With Mr. Vader was shown during this year´s Meteor Festival after an intense rehearsal period at Wrap. International as well as local performers participated in the process and the performances. The project is a great example ofo how Wrap´s different studios, workshops and areas of knowledge can contribute to realising exiting, interdisciplinary projects. The production used all of our facilities (the music studio, rehearsal space, scenography workshop and video editing facilities) in the process of creating the performance.

NONCompany and Leo Preston can be mentioned as users of the new studio. The new studio is already a success with its wooden floor, increased space and high ceiling. This enables us to now house larger productions than we usually have had room for.

]]>Michael Walker showed a selection of his works in the basement of Bien between September 25. and October 1. During his stay in Bergen, Walker has been working with children and youth alongside his work towards the exhibition. This has created opportunities for him, and he is due back to do some more projects and workshops for the local youth in the coming year.
]]>Michael Walker has been Wrap´s artist in recidence and is now exhibiting his work in the basement at Bien Bar (Danmarksplass). The exhibition is open dayly between 12 and 7 pm until Thursday 1st of October. He has already sold some of the pieces, so there is no time to lose!
]]>Priya Mistry has now finished her recidency at Wrap and has given good feedback on the new spaces and equipment at hand! Since Wrap has not yet taken over the best spaces for events and exhibitions, we are making use of temporary solutions for some of our activity. Leo Preston is doing his rehearsals for Getting Spiritual with Mr. Vader at Damsgård, and Michael Walker will have his exhibition in the cellar at Bien Bar from September 25th -October 1st between 12.00 and 19.00. Michael Walker has been working towards this exhibition at Wrap as well as giving workshops in various schools in the area.
]]>British artist Priya Mistry has, as the first artist of the Autumn season, had her artist recidency in Wrap’s new venue. She has had great use of Wrap’s well equipped workshops in the process of developing her new project. The interactive performance Heroes takes place in the streets of Bergen this coming Saturday and Sunday (August 15th -16th), and invites the audience to meet the hero within by the aid of a Heromobile. A unique opportunity for adults to bring out their inner child and play! Next in line is British artist Michael Walker, who will be working at Wrap towards an exhibition taking place towards the end of next month.

We have lived long, and well, on borrowed time in the Ibsensgate venue, but this era of Wraps history has nearly come to an end.
We have known for a while that the house was going to be demolished, it was only a question of time. July 1st is set to be the starting date for the demolotion process, and we are now moving to a new venue in Møhlendalsveien. The new fascilities will help us to provide a better sevice for our users. -We can mention bigger dance- and music- studios. From August we’ll host two artist recidencies by British artists Michael Walker and whatsthebigmistry, as well as having Leo Preston producing his performance Getting Spiritual with Mr. Vader in our various studios. We are looking forward to inviting you all to the house warming and open week this Autumn!

]]>The initiator for the event, and participant in the Damsgårdyouth project, Ole Morten Algerøy, gathered a great mixture of artists and art forms for a memorable Thursday evening at 31 Ibsensgate. A variety of visual art and stunts as well as three bands: Støy, Johnny Campus and the Super Happy Fun Family og Hanne Vatnøy were presented. One of the reasons for arranging this event was to draw attention to the Damsgårdyouth project although the event itself involved youth and artists from other areas of Bergen, and who are not participating in the project.
]]>Mandag 4 mai var det duket for sesongens siste PrøveRommet i Wraps lokaler med live musikk, utstillinger og performances i ekte PrøveRommet-ånd.
Lørdag 9 mai hadde Wrap den glede å huse Pepper Rabbits release party. Vi kan melde om stemningsfull musikk og et storlig fornøyd publikum!
I tillegg har studentteateret !mmaturus benyttet seg av dansestudioet for å ferdigstille sin siste produksjon “Tankekartet/Kraftkartet”, resirkuleringskunstner David Catherall har jobbet mye både i tre- og metallverkstedet, sidehuset og i visningsrommet, Thud har jobbet i dansestudioet og hagen, og Leo Preston har jobbet i dansestudioet, musikkstudioet og videoredigeringsrommet.
On Saturday 25. April Bergen celebrated the International Day of Dance. Various dance stunts by the city´s many dance students contributed to much activity and diversity in places such as; the train station, “Festplassen”, “Torgalmenningen”, “Fløybanen”, “Konsertpaleet”, the library etc. These stunts were filmed and edited as the day proceeded in order for us to be able to show a film of the events at the evening´s afterparty! A party which also offered a chance to participate in an open dance improvisation where musicians and dancers improvised together.
The last “PrøveRommet” of this season took place in the main venue on Monday 4. May, where live music, exhibitions and performances were shown.
Wrap is happy to have hosted the release party of Pepper Rabbit´s fresh album on Saturday 9. May. Haunting melodies left the audience enchanted!
In addition to these events, there have been artists using our fascilities; The student theatre !mmaturus used our dance studio in order to complete their latest production “Tankekartet/Kraftkartet” , re-cycling artist David Catherall has been working busily in both our wood- and metal-workshop, the main venue and the side house, Thud has been working in the dance studio and the garden, and Leo Preston has been using the dance studio, the music studio and the video room.
