Dansensdag 2008
For the fourth year in a row, Wrap was part of organising the International Day of Dance celebrations together with Bergen Dansesenter (Bergen Dance Centre, BDS).
Torill Mjelde, dancer and voluntary worker at Wrap, filmed small dance stunts at the train station, whilst Veronica Robles Thorseth, co-worker at Wrap, filmed stunts happening other places around town. In the middle of Bergen’s largest traffic junction, “Thud-moving endangered spaces”, performed a dance installation in support of the environmental campaign, “Ren Luft Danmarksplass”. This was filmed by Leaf Oliver Preston Thorseth. This dance installation was created at Wrap, using the wood and metal workshop, dance studio and back garden. During the day Leo Preston, co-worker at Wrap, edited the footage of all these stunts, and in the evening Wrap had a special International Day of Dance event. Film of most stunts was screened at this event, and Omamotion showed a work in progress which they had been working on and building up to at Wrap, with dancers Gitte Bastiansen and Kristine Oma. There was an open dance improvisation, and the event continued with lots of dancing and great music from D.J.’s Fusa and Kristian.
There has also been more dance activity going on lately at Wrap. In addition to various preparations for the tenth anniversary of Prøverommet, one of our regular users, percussionist Sarjo Conateh, has been collaborating with a group from Sierra Leone. They finished their creation of a new show with dance and performance which was performed at a cultural event in Radøy Kommune.
