Interdisciplinary Production
Leo Preston
It’s been a while since we last posted any news here, but there has been plenty of activity over the summer, with a number of music and photography projects, as well as theatre. At this moment, Leo Preston is producing his third interdisciplinary theatre piece for Meteor International Theatre Festival
For this purpose, he is renting the video, music and dance studios. He has now expanded our internal computer network to cover the dance studio, which is the main production space for his work, and where he has recently been developing the music for the performance, as well as video and text material. The dance studio (with equipment from the music and video rooms) has proven to be an excellent and very flexible space. Using our Ask video projector, straight from his work table, Leo has been able to screen his video material for visiting collaborators such as musicians Audun Humberseth, Geir Bjøreid Aabø, Kjetil Hana and Åsmund Weltzien who will be performing the music in this show. Using a state-of the-art PA (consisting of our Tourbosound tops and Dynacord subs, powered by our Dynacord 4 way mosfet amp) Leo has a great set-up for rehearsing with musicians, and can instantly make live recordings using our Mackie mixer (CR1604 VLZ) with the music rooms Delta 1010 soundcard and G4. Recordings can be instantly mixed, using the PA as monitoring system, and relayed to our video computer, or Leo’s laptop to try out different audiovisual ideas. Although rehearsals for Leo’s show are delayed because of problems with the application for work permits for two Malian artists, he plans to have the initial rehearsals in the same space, in order to have optimum access to all his audio-visual material whilst it is still being developed along side the rest of the show. The last days before the premier, rehearsals will take place in our venue downstairs. For more information about Leo’s show, entitled “Sir Global Rights and His Wireless Crew” click here.
This autumn, we will be taking a break from our “Second Home Cinema” series. We would, however, like to announce the introduction of new morning exercise sessions, which we are starting up every second Sunday. These sessions are highly recommended for anyone working with performance, or interested in looking after themselves. No previous experience required. Each session will be lead by two of three dancers from The Underberg Herbgirl Dancegarden, all of whom are professional dancers with a background in release technique. Times will be posted here on our calendar within the next few days.
