This was the first season of Sonisk Selskap in Wrap’s AV Lab. It was led by Leo Preston and recorded by Paal Rasmussen, and the final concert was presented at Søndasgskrydder on the 21st of March with dance improvisation by dancers from ImproLaBergen in three rooms in three different rooms. Veronica Robles Thorseth made a score inspired by contemplation around “the thinking body” and the work of the important dance pedagog and artist, Gill Clarke (UK).
The music was initially based around jamming to pre-prepared grooves which Leo Preston played back from his laptop. After the initial session, the focus was on ideas that came from listening to the recordings from the previous day.
Preston played guitar and saw on most of the sessions, rather than attempting to lead the music in a more formal way. For the last two sesasions, he adorned the wall of Studio B with a giant poster with some key illustrations/notes as a reminder of some core concepts.
Recordings were made as 25 tracks on Rasmussen’s laptop using Wrap’s digital mixer system (Allen & Heath dLive with Waves Sound Grid) which facilitated real-time listening in other rooms using network cables and digital stage-box architecture (DX168’s).
Sonisk Selskap concert begins at 1:25:20
