Søndagskrydder

Sunday the 27th of September we invite you to join us for an afternoon full of Workshops, art experiences and great food! Søndagskrydder is a family friendly matiné event where we showcase work and projects by some of the many great artists in our extended network, at a sociable event with a cookery course that culminates in a wonderful meal served directly in our canteen.

This time we are very pleased to present a vocal workshop with the extremely talented and renowned composer, singer, writer and performer, Alwynne Pritchard - as well as a preview of her forthcoming performance of commissioned new works by various composers, DOG/GOD II. We will also be showing the exhibition Du finn meg på kanten, with texts by the Volda based poet, author and editor, Fanny Holmin, and photography by Ørsta based Svein Olav Humberset.

Shruti Karkhanis from Hjemmelaget fra Hjemlandet will be sharing her recipe for authentic samosas and sauces from Mumbai, and these will be served in Wrap’s canteen with dal tadka and rice.

There will also be the opportunity to contribute to a stop-frame animation at our animation station, which is suitable for adults and children alike.

Wraps own aproach to curating

An important aspect of our mission at Wrap is that we should provide good opportunities for artists to share their work with an audience. To do this we have developed conceptual frameworks that are designed to support artists on their own terms, whilst striving to offer the most valuable and touching experiences to our audience.

Søndagskrydder is a concept that we have tried before. It’s a generous framework for family friendly matiné events that will combine exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances with fresh warm food that gets made in Wrap’s kitchen with a new cookery course each time. Thanks to support from Bergen City Council’s “Open Doors” fund, we have decided to make all the contents of these events completely free, and you will be able to join the excellent courses online for free too!

Through our Plastic Arena framework, we also offer artists the possibility to show their own work on their own terms, with technical and promotional support as well as other forms of mentorship where this is desirable. Plastic Arena is an opportunity that Wrap offers to five artists/groups per year, and which has already covered a wide variety of aesthetics and genres. It is particularly intended as an opportunity for artists who are consciously interested in exploring alternatives to more conventional formats.

Other news

We would like to congratulate Tore Vagn Lid and Transiteatret with well-deserved Hedda prizes for Særlig kunstnerisk innsats (Outstanding artistic effort) and for Best Audiovisual Design for 03:08.38 – Tilstander av Unntak. We are proud to have played our role in enabling Transiteatret to develop their unique work, and to have helped in our own small way to realise this very unique audiovisual design by producing interactive real-time listening stations at Wrap and at the near-by pavilion in Møllendalsalmeningen.

Recent activity at Wrap includes Even Kråkeness’ set design/building for Karius & Baktus, now showing at Ole Bull theatre (a great show for children), Visual artist Nora Adwan who is working on several installations (one of which can now be seen at Høstutstillingen in Oslo), and a dance production by Ine Terese Hogstad and David Alræk, entitled Papirvinger, which will premier during this years Oktoberdans festival (BIT-Teatergarasjen).
