Etchings of Coastal Sites

Thursday, 24 June 2021 13:25

The ocean is an event not an object, it's composed of an infinite number of tiny swells that create its roaring voice or its subdued murmur.  The coastal formation is in a dialogue with the tide, the seas waining pull back and its fierce assault carve away the topography of the lands edges. This installation is an audio/visual collaboration between four local artists who have gathered materials from a variety of coastal areas and reimagined them through various methods of digital processing in order to create a immersive installation that works with notions of trace, residue and etching. There will be an interaction between soundscape, landscape and the digital spheres of new media in which we will explore alternative strategies in creating musical form; where found sounds and synthesised sounds are fused together resulting in a phantasmagoria of the real and imaginary landscapes in which illusions and dream like sequences are projected onto semi transparent vails.

Etchings of Coastal Sites is a temporal work comprising surround sound, video projections and light.

The piece lasts 11 minutes.

It will run continuously between 19:00 - 22:00 on Thursday 24th June
